About our group

The Horncastle and Woodhall Spa Area Group of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust has been in existence for many years and has always been a very active group. The group has approximately 450 members and is led by a small committee, consisting of a Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and four other members.

The committee are responsible for the finances of the group, the organising of the annual events calendar and the volunteers needed to make sure that events run smoothly. Members of the committee are chosen at the Annual General Meeting, which is held in April of each year. The Group is currently involved in raising funds for Group expenses and for the Wildlife Trust. A market stall is held annually, in Horncastle and a Christmas shop, manned by local volunteers, in the weeks leading up to Christmas. A Trust stall is usually run by group members at local fairs, galas and country shows, in the area. Members are always needed to help out at events, bake cakes, contribute vegetables, books, bric a brac, plants and preserves. Please contact Alicja our secretary, if you can do any of these things.

During the winter months the group meets monthly, usually at Trust Headquarters to hear a speaker and during the summer events are arranged outdoors, usually in the form of a visit to a nature reserve or a walk in the country. A number of group members do voluntary work at Trust Headquarters and are wardens of local nature reserves.

To join the group contact the headquarters of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust on 01507 526667 and ask for an application form. If you want more information please look at the website at www.lincstrust.co.uk. The Group is a very active and friendly one and always welcomes new members.
